I’ve always loved the Evo IX (and VIII), as it touts that old-school appeal of the earlier versions that weren’t sold in America; the Evo X that followed was a great car – but with the VIII and IX, it always felt like we were getting away with something we shouldn’t have had access to, and I loved that. This particular Evo boasts some performance modifications to further enhance the driving experience, as most of them do – and it’s been owned by the same family since new, which is impressive. It also touts some good recent service history, along with ownership in warm/dry climates from new.
Highlights
THIS… is a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 MR SE, finished in Tarmac Black Pearl with a black interior.
This Evo is equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission.
The attached Carfax history report shows that this car has been registered in Southern and Western states since new.
Factory equipment on this Evo 9 includes Recaro front seats, Brembo brakes, front and rear limited slip differentials, carbon fiber rear wing, leather-wrapped Momo steering wheel, air conditioning, and power windows, among other standard equipment.
Modifications are extensive, with notable items including a Stage 1 clutch and flywheel, a Forge blow-off valve, a QTP downpipe, a JDM Evo rear bumper, and a dyno tune. The full list of modifications can be seen below.
The Evo — long lusted over by American consumers — quickly became a favorite of both the tuner community and of rallycross enthusiasts, thanks to its robust drivetrain and incredibly eager handling and driving dynamics. The “MR” was the top of the line model and came standard with a 6-speed transmission, Bilstein shocks, split seven-spoke forged aluminum BBS wheels, an aluminum roof, hood, and front fenders, HID headlights with integrated fog lights, a vortex generator, front brake cooling ducts, and custom MR badging.
The Lancer Evolution 9 is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder rated at 271 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque in stock form. The reported modifications likely increase those figures, but a dynamometer reading is not provided. Outputs is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
