I’ve always loved the Evo IX (and VIII), as it touts that old-school appeal of the earlier versions that weren’t sold in America – and while the Evo X that followed was a great car, this model always felt like we were getting away with something we shouldn’t have had access to. This particular Evo IX’s 2.0-liter 4-cylinder has been swapped with a larger 4G64 2.4-liter engine block that’s been modified to allow for a turbocharger, and it features a long list of upgrades intended to enhance its performance, all of which bring output up to an impressive 627 horsepower at the wheels! This Evo has also been fitted with a Jacks Transmissions 5-speed manual conversion kit – AND this Evo IX is offered with a clean, accident-free Carfax report, adding further to its appeal.
Highlights
THIS… is a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR, finished in Wicked White with a black interior.
This Evolution IX has been stroked to 2.4 liters and features a 5-speed manual transmission conversion that replaces the factory 6-speed.
The attached Carfax vehicle history report shows no accidents or mileage discrepancies in this Mitsubishi’s past.
According to the build sheet provided in the gallery, factory equipment includes the MR Package, the Zero Lift Kit, all-wheel drive with an active center differential, limited-slip front and rear differentials, an aluminum roof, hood, and fenders, and Recaro seats.
Modifications to this Evo IX are extensive, and the full list is detailed below. Highlights include a 4G64 2.4-liter engine block, a Precision Turbo turbocharger, a Jacks Transmissions 5-speed conversion, Megan Racing coilovers, 17-inch Enkei wheels, and Takata harnesses.
The Evo — long lusted over by American consumers — quickly became a favorite of both the tuner community and of rallycross enthusiasts, thanks to its robust drivetrain and incredibly eager handling and driving dynamics. The MR was the top-of-the-line model and came standard with a 6-speed transmission, Bilstein shocks, split seven-spoke forged aluminum BBS wheels, an aluminum roof, hood, and front fenders, HID headlights with integrated fog lights, a vortex generator, and MR badging.
Power comes from a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4, rated at 286 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque in stock form with 2.0-liter displacement. According to the dyno sheet provided in the gallery, the modifications increase those figures to 627 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. Output is sent to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
